Wed 7th August – 5.30-7.00pm
Ten years ago Rotorua X launched to provide a different type of business event that focused on connection and inspiration. An event for the future leaders of our town. In today’s entrepreneurial speak we disrupted the status quo of business networking. Our first event had just 12 attendees. Fast forward ten years and we are consistently getting up to 100 to our monthly events. We’ve also aged a little and dropped ‘future leaders’ from our tagline 😊
To celebrate our TENTH year, our 89th Connect event we are excited to have a speaker who is also breaking ground in a very hot topic, medicinal cannabis. And it’s a great fit to be part of Rotorua’s inaugural Innovation Festival.
Mark Lucas, co-founder and CEO of Cannasouth, will join us to share his journey on being the first NZ medicinal cannabis company to list on the New Zealand Stock Exchange.
Globally, the market is moving ahead at a rapid pace and Mark believes New Zealand is well positioned to play a significant role in the industry globally through a focus on quality, innovation, and sustainability. There is an air of anticipation, with the looming roll-out of the regulations for the medicinal cannabis scheme, that we will witness a new market explode over the coming years.
But it is a polarising issue. Right now the Government is consulting on medicinal cannabis regulations. And of course we all get to have our say on in the referendum planned in the 2020 election.
Come along to hear an insiders view on what will happen in this space and the start-up journey of one of the leading medicinal cannabis researchers in New Zealand.
Join us at the fabulous Regent of Rotorua for drinks and nibbles (first drink free).
As well as our awesome speaker, we may have cake and provide plenty of laughs with 10 years’ worth of blooper photos from our events (and oh my, we have some truly hilarious ones!).
