Starting a business
Do you have an idea for a business? Or have you had an idea but don’t know how to get it off the ground?
ACTIVATE will help you develop your business idea and get ready to launch. It is a 12-week business training programme to help develop the concept and launch a new product, service or organisation.
Every week you will meet with a professional business coach and facilitator in group sessions to go through the necessary steps to launch: idea development, lean business canvas, market validation, business planning and growth mindset. As part of the course you get two one-on-one business coaching sessions.
You’ll walk away from the programme with a plan to launch your business or product.

Growing your business
Already have a business? Not sure if you’re doing things right or struggling to grow?
INCUBATE will help you set goals, implement actions and get results. Over 12 weeks you will learn the foundations for long term business success.
This programme is for newer/smaller businesses and social enterprises still grappling with establishing a sustainable business.
Participants receive eight group training sessions on essential topics such as mindset, sales, marketing, pricing, and finance and two one-on-one business coaching sessions.
At the end of the programme you will have a growth plan for your business.

Firestation and Rotorua Lakes Council are seeking people with a business idea or newly established businesses, social enterprises or charities to participate in programmes to help them launch, grow and succeed.
Participants will receive business coaching in one-on-one sessions plus group Mastery training to build business capability. This will help participants to set goals, implement actions and increase overall success through business planning to help them work on their business or social enterprise.
Both programmes will commence in 1 November 2017 and require a time commitment of 2-3 hours per week. Most sessions will be held on Wednesdays.
– Organisation must have started generating revenue from sales and have access to capital
– Previous business ownership or related commercial experience is necessary
– Passion, energy and a desire to succeed.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Successful candidates will be required to sign a ‘Pledge of Commitment’.This document confirms that all sessions will be attended, participants understand the need for confidentiality and acknowledge that Rotorua Lakes Council reserves the right to be reimbursed for the cost of the programme should attendees fail to participate to a satisfactory level. It also specifies that high-level financial information must be provided for a period of two years post-programme.
All sessions will be held in Rotorua. Dates and times to be advised. Mastery training sessions are likely to run on Wednesdays. The order of topics may change depending on facilitator availability. Coaching times will vary and a range of time options will be available.
